The Discussion Group

The Discussion Group

The Discussion Group, formed in 2001, is not strictly speaking a parish activity because the views expressed in its meetings are personal and may not conform to the letter of Catholic teaching. However, it is run by members of the parish, is open to all, and meets approximately every four to six weeks, except at holiday time.

Until recently meetings alternated between parishioners’ homes in Bungay and Harleston, but some of the Harleston hosts have moved from the parish, and the group now seeks new venues in or near Harleston. We usually enjoy a glass of wine to aid the thought processes.

The topic for discussion is agreed at the previous meeting, and one member prepares a short introduction, which is then open to discussion and debate. Topics generally deal with Church teaching, practice and history; moral and theological issues, and the Bible.
