Katy Wakely was received into full communion with the Roman Catholic Church at St Edmund’s on Pentecost Sunday, and the congregation joined her in celebration in the parish hall afterwards. Father Simon presented Katy with a hand-painted card, created by Cilla Duckett, and signed by parishioners. Well-wishers enjoyed a selection of non-alcoholic drinks and gluten-free goodies, including a celebration cake featuring blue butterflies – a symbol holding particular significance for Katy in her spiritual journey.
Katy writes: “I would like to say thank you for the love, encouragement and practical help shown to me on Pentecost Sunday, when I made the next step in my faith journey, and was received into full communion in the Catholic church. Sometimes it’s not until an event like this that we realise how much people care. Thank you so much for making me feel so loved.”
